This is an extraordinary proposition- the body that regulates whether solicitors work within their legal requirements proposes sniffing out whether solicitors who have probably been doing advocacy half their lives are not fit to do the job that the Legal Practitioners Act says they are absolutely entitled to do. Is the SRA so determined to denigrate its own stakeholders that it is doing a hatchet job on behalf of the more lunatic extremes of the Bar? Good busy barristers are very comfortable with the role solicitors play and know damn well what a good job solicitors do, including advocacy.
