The point is Brian, you manage a trade association.

A trade association is not a regulator.

The article says you are a regulator.

You cannot exercise the role and function of a regulator.

As for you not having rivals, you do have a rival, the IPW.

I am sure that if one doesn't need a law degree, a professional qualification, two years approved training, professional indemnity insurance and being subject to effective (well SRA) regulation there will be 'opportunities' but don't expect to be treated with any degree of credibility comparable to being a solicitor and regulated accordingly.

To show how effective your trade association is, please set out the number of members who have )other than for non payment of subs) had their membership withdrawn, made conditional on xyz or subject to any sanction.
