I have little confidence in the CMA. Their foray into the "Poundland" purchase of the "99p" stores showed a complete lack of common sense. Although the merger was approved, it should never have been investigated. They are two general retailers operating in a market where there are dozens of retailers. Their only similarity was in a catchy price name, and matching in store pricing. That does not make them a distinct market segment.
Locally the CMA vetoed the merger of two NHS hospitals on the grounds that it would reduce competition. What the NHS is competing against itself? Cost of the exercise ran into millions, which could have been better spent on frontline services.
Enough of that.
Let me save the CMA months of effort and expense.
