Thanks for the pedantry Martin. I am well aware of the Geneva Conventions and the obligations under them and I don't recall saying that soldiers who have transgressed them should excused from prosecution. The fact is that Mr Cameron is shouting the odds about "hounding" of service personnel when it is his government taking the legal proceedings against the soldiers. The civil law suits are likely to be against the British Government rather than individual soldiers who are no doubt men of straw. I may be sticking my neck out here but I would be astonished if these "ambulance chasers" have instituted civil proceedings against any former soldiers. Anon 24 Jan 07:20 pm
