I've read the judgment now. What japes!

The stamp duty was negligently overpaid. The duty should have been shared between the solicitor's clients. There was no mitigation or avoidance; the methodology is conventional stamp duty law. To avoid this and other consequences the solicitor created a false paper and evidential trail.

The judgment is a superb example of being hit by teddy bear full of lead shot.
