I can't speak for the Derby office but certainly the Failsworth office is not a leasehold. Fentons owned the freehold and as such, S&G own it now. No savings there then and I can't imagine the building will sell quickly or for a huge sum. The wages bill is where the savings can be made but heaven forbid S&G be honest and upfront about something.

Since S&G took over Fentons, the Failsworth staff were given repeated assurances by management that the office would not be closed. Many of us took those assurances with a pinch of salt but for some of those based in the Failsworth office I suspect it was more a case that they desperately wanted to believe the assurances they were being given.

I will be very surprised if any jobs are found for the Failsworth solicitors in the city centre office, despite the fact that numerous solicitors have resigned. S&G are extremely reluctant to hire solicitors and those who leave are either not being replaced at all or are replaced with paralegals.
