Anonymous litigator at 3.12am today Having fixed or capped costs does not mean that clients will be able to afford litigation. Most of my clients cannot even afford the Court fees let alone to pay me anything like even 10% of the proposed fixed fees. After 26 years as a "dispute resolution" solicitor all I do now is fixed fees for each step (usually less than half the actual cost) and push clients and opponents together for mediation or discussion with a view to never needing me again. i desperately need a new career. this one sickens me and is a source of much distress and ill health worrying about whether my job in a smallish high street firm will survive the latest shenanigans. Any ideas? I have done my own typing etc for 15 years now so I am very handy with Word and Case Management Programmes but sadly this does not seem to translate into "qualified" for any other walk of life....
