anon @3.42 is either not a lawyer or has never run a case in his life. If you go to court sadly you incur court fees!!!.
Suppose I have a relatively complex multitrack case worth £50000.What is it likely to cost me to go to trial.I will assume that the trial will take 2 days minimum bearing in mind that it is unlikely to start on time and will run to a second day even if it is straightforward.I would make an educated guess on the basis that I would not use a rookie barrister and would get away with 1 expert with no other expenses :-
Court fees £3590
Counsels fees to include
a con and trial-I will do all the
pleadings etc. £7500 plus vat
Experts fees to include report,
clarification,comments on defs report,
meeting with defs expert,preparing
joint report con before trial
and trial for 2 days £5000 (Ever the optimist)plus vat
Sadly that means I dont get paid.Mind you the court has done very well taking 20% of the costs.
I am assuming that Jackson is having a laugh but sadly I suspect he is deadly serious.
