I feel for the DJ to a certain degree...clearly the cuts are going way too far and having suffered from a nervous breakdown I would not wish that on anyone. As a Court User I have seen the level of service plummet over the last 24 months, and certainly the increase in court fees has not been met with an increase in service - quite the opposite actually. All court staff, at every level, must be totally demoralised and completely swamped with work. I wonder if the fee increases, past and future, are designed more to keep people away from the courts rather than to increase income for HMCTS?
