As an in-house solicitor, working in the public sector, with a wife who works as a court clerk, it appears abundantly clear that Marshall Hall's comments are based on an outdated at best, or fictitious at worst, view of the world in which we practice. Having previously spent over 10 years in private practice, I am fully aware of the pressures that exist in that environment. However, to suggest that no such pressures exist either in the judiciary or in the public sector is as ill informed as it is distasteful.
