I work for victims of child abuse whose cases are complex, involving research of the entire psychological life of the claimant and psychiatric reports. Time has to be spent building trust with the client which makes for a lot of case work. Damages are so disgracefully low that we sometimes struggle with proportionality issues on assessment despite horrendous abuse suffered.
Is our government seriously willing to allow child abuse victims to be squeezed out of the compensation system as their cases don't fit with Rupert Jackson's back of a fag packet dream ?
I sincerely hope the MOJ are willing to allow exemptions for specialist complex cases such as child abuse. The LAA have already recognised the importance of this area of work and have committed to supporting these deserving cases.
Exemption for child abuse please, Mr Faulks.
