Well it seems that Lord Dyson sought the views of 31 more people than the government spoke to.
Again we see the ghastly report by the Centre for Policy Studies penned by Jim Diamond being trotted out to make assertions about solicitors fees in litigation.
Mr Diamond created the confusion. He opens with reference to the "top commercial law firms in the City of London", and then halfway through makes reference to the Jackson "reforms", then admits that most civil matters do not involve Court hearings, before coming to a conclusion on the effect of high legal costs that focusses almost exclusively on litigation. He makes especial mention of the County Courts. Next time I see the senior partner of a magic circle firm kicking his heals in the waiting area of the District Judges chambers I will let you know.
His conflation of top city hourly rates with average US partner charging rates is also difficult to comment on politely.
Mr Diamond, your work is very poor, and you have started a wholly unreal hare running across the legal landscape.
