This debate is of critical importance to solicitors, but the problem is that the trust which ought exist between the Law Society and its members has been eroded to the point, that all announcements by it are treated with derision.

I feel that the understandable anger of many solicitors directed towards the Law Society must now be put to one side for the greater good.

A working party should be established urgently made up not only of members of the Council, but also of representatives of firms of all sizes.

This issue affects us all and it may be our last chance to secure the profession's future.
