Still, whoever he is (or they are) I suppose it's fair to assume that their views on economics are as dependable as those of most of the Europhiles commenting here. Of course I entirely agree with you that we should be able to determine our own immigration policy, and I think our treatment of Australia and New Zealand at the time of our accession to the Common Market was one of the most disgraceful episodes of that saga of deceit and misdirection. As regards the discrepant immigration figures you mention, I'm guessing that the Times was referring to EU workers and the Express to all foreign workers.
