Anyone working on litigation cases of any type will be familiar with the huge amount of work needed to prepare a case. In my world, for the substantial clin neg claims I deal with, I will spend up to 1000 hours over the course of 5 years, fighting tooth and nail with the NHSLA lawyers on a wide range of complex medico/legal and factual issues. These types of cases will require the input of at least two solicitors, a paralegal, a typist, ten experts, a barrister and a back office who can copy 1000 pages of records as required within 24 hours.

I genuinely feel that the judiciary would very much benefit from spending a week in a solicitor's practice, of any type, to see how much work is required to prepare these cases to an appropriate standard. The comments made recently indicate a lack of understanding of what it takes to prepare a case for trial.
