With 65% + of cases in the family courts, not having Lawyers involved - this seems to be a backward step that ensures that few if any have support in court.

Only a relative few are able to pay for Lawyers, and even fewer in a long running case can afford the fees of Lawyers.

Smacks of protectionism indeed.

LIPs should be able to have whoever they wish support them in Court.
