We seem to lurch from one unintended consequence to another. Solicitors are to expensive and incompetent so let anyone practise law, regulated or not, but then 'oh no!' the courts are filled with odd balls and weirdos arguing freeman of the land points and having to be surgically removed from the court building. So don't let them have any money! That will ensure only the really demented ones survive and that the courts will clog up with LIPs. 'Oh no!' bring back solicitors but cap their fees (while massively over-complicating the rules and wondering what all the resulting fuss is about) and when they go bust/refuse to act, impose compulsory pro bono (mark my words) and the fools who remain. Lob in CFAs then take them out again and replace with DBAs or whatever the latest flavour of the month idea is and everything will be fine. Oh no! (it won't)
