I'm sure Mr Berkeley does not intend it, and this is not meant to be a personal attack on him, but he is at risk of getting into hot water with the SRA. There seems to be a misunderstanding about what you can and can't do when you are remain the roll with no PC. If you identify yourself as a solicitor and do any type of legal work (it does not matter if it is reserved work or not) you are are at risk of misconduct action. A lay person can do non-reserved legal work. An unregulated solicitor cannot, rightly or wrongly. Court work, conveyancing advice, 'no win no fee' - this is all legal work, whether accepting fees or donations.

If the option was there just to ditch the PC, PII and regulation and call ourselves 'solicitors (non practising)' whilst carrying on the day job, then we'd all do it, happy days.
