It needn't do. The Law Society are desperate for these ABS/MDP's to succeed. They supported and backed them and pulled out all the stops to see they were put on the statute book. The Law Society are desperately short of funds.

They are about to be bounced out of mandatory "representation" of the ex-profession, and the percentage of the fees from the practising certificate that entails.

This means they need a source of income. In particular, how are they going to encourage more diversity 'initiatives' and more students to take their (i.e. sanctioned though not supervised or modulated) non-professional 'exams'?
