But, as a layman, am I not right to think that the solicitors, to whom one goes to be assured that the transaction is legally flawless, were in error in failing to discover the restriction, which might have been one with serious consequences for the buyers, and that the solicitors ought to have to pay a penalty, to make them more careful or thorough in future? It looks to me like one lawyer, the judge, completely exonerating the others and refusing to award the purchasers at least a token compensation (£1000?) for the, brief, worry they were caused.
