In 2015 Aviva reported that fraudulent whiplash claims add an average of £93 to the cost of an insurance policy. Using the £58m figure above means that Aviva has issued 623000 policies. In fact it claims to insure 2.4m motor cars. Therefore the figure is actually £24 per motor car. Perhaps Aviva might want to explain?

It also shows that if Aviva really wanted to reduce premiums for motorists, it could simply do it, and simply reduce its profits from £560m to £502m. The real reason increase in premiums for motorists seems to be clear from these numbers.
