Quite wrong in my opinion, If the work was necessary to prove the claim, it should be paid for irrespective of the size of the claim.

I'm really not sure about this proportionality principle. In my opinion, if I succeed in claiming £1m by writing one simple short letter, my costs should probably be about £50, not a 'proportionate' amount based on the claim unless, of course, there is also an element of risk involved on my part in addition to writing the letter or my fee is agreed to be based on a percentage or some other calculation which could provide me with a large fee for little effort.

I really do not understand what the size of the claim has to do with the obtaining of a just result?
