This morning, when a young new solicitor phoned me, a retired conveyancing solicitor, about a notty problem I advised her to phone the Land Registry. I told her that if she really wanted to know what was what, that's where to go for advice. She did and got an instant answer. Problem solved. The Land Registry should never be sold off just to put money into the hands of politicians when it continues to provide such an excellent helplful service staffed by those who know best. Long live its independence.
