@Anon 04:29. You're way too pessimistic! Clearly the justice system works without any lawyers in charge. Also I'm sure the government will hasten to buff its egalitarian credentials by demonstrating it plays by the same rules it applies to the rest of the nation. The Attorney-General and Solicitor-General are obviously redundant, or at least their legal skills are and they could be replaced by non-lawyers. After all, if ministers need legal representation, they can get it through the legal aid system they've set up (apart from Boris who as an immigrant from New York might be ineligible as soon as they get around to re-legislating their latest ultra vires failure - but arguably he'll have sovereign immunity(?) from any crimes he commits overseas, so that's ok).

Equality of arms for the government! It's only fair.
