This proposal makes the SRA's proposals look positively benign.

Its ironic that because our representative body is perceived as so weak, all and sundry are having a field day at our expense.

Sober reflection will make many feel that if the super regulator actually thinks there is nothing wrong with these proposals, and it sets the policy and tone for all regulators, then we could be seeing the beginning of the end of professionalism in the delivery of UK legal services.

Certainly the Law Society would be doomed, and years of weak leadership, or in some cases no leadership at all, is coming back to haunt this much maligned body.
