Ronan, if only there was a coherent aim. The reality is that the LSB is made up of people who do not understand the benefits of maintaining professional standards. That much is clear from their 'gold plating' reference. They think that de-professionalising law will ensure a cheaper service without reducing standards, but they have absolutely no evidence to support that thinking. They have also forgotten (or perhaps never knew) how important an independent legal profession has shown itself to be in so many parts of the world where tyrants lurk.
