Careful examination of the LSB statement throws up some patent absurdities.

Solicitors created a profession, because members felt that high standards had to be maintained, and because they practised for higher motives.

There is a constant public appetite for ethical standards to be embedded in all our activities, especially in business, and a profession, which helps the vulnerable, to cope with life's thousand natural shocks.

It is clearly ridiculous, for any regulator, let alone a "super" one, to argue that competition policy should be enforced so fundamentally, that the ethical use of asymmetric must be corrupted, to allow the unqualified and ignorant to thrive.
