Anon 4.19pm, Did all the voters in 1975 "clearly understand" the implications of membership of the European Community and of "ever-closer union"? Did the Scots a couple of years back have a clear vision of how "Scottish independence" would work out in detail before they cast their vote? Did even British Europhiles lay so much stress on the obscurity of the present question during the debate on the Referendum Bill or during the campaign itself - or indeed at any time until after they'd lost the vote?

But I'm still waiting for an answer to my previous question: How could the 23rd June decision have been made more binding than it actually is? Because until you angry Remainders have answered this, you have no logical grounds for calling the result "advisory".
