If you need any more evidence to demonstrate that the Law Society has lost the war to maintain the brand of 'solicitor' , this is it. I find it harder and harder to justify to myself the practising certificate fee I pay, for the decreasing value of being able to comply with the Solicitors Act. Legal fees have been high for centuries. It's only in recent decades that there is no longer a belief that that level of fees was commensurate with the value purchased. The market has indeed responded, in a depressing race to the bottom fashion.This is a dying profession.
