I think the people who may be concerned here are the solicitors who carried out the due diligence for S&G before they purchased this basket case. S&G made a big issue in their pre and post purchase announcements that they had undertaken extensive due diligence and employed 70 (?) solicitors to go through the files they were purchasing. Was this an in house due diligence, or did they employ external solicitors? If the latter what was their remit? If S&G lose the action in Australia will they try and claim that they were led up the garden path by the results of the due diligence? Interesting times!!
