The answer to anonymous 16.16 is simple; the treaties that he mentions (like all other treaties) were signed under the prerogative powers but did not take effect and become part of the law of the land until ratified. Each treaty has to have an implementing act of parliament to achieve that effect. 16.16 may like to look at Schedule 2 to the ECA 1972. I hope this is helpful.
