I'm not taken with the economic impact argument. That didn't really help the miners, or steel workers, or ship builders, or anyone whose livelihood was shut down for policy or economic reasons.

What I detest is the unjustified and frankly ludicrous scaremongering tactics of the insurers when after all, there are more cars on the road and therefore more crashes, added to the absence of their evidence to support what they say.

Add in the rise of the CMC (not necessarily a bad thing) and cold calling and you have a perfect storm.

Anon 13:20 - there is a thing called tort and if you are the victim of a tort and can prove damage then you get compensated. By all means destroy the credit hire industry and the back handers but these proposals will remove justice for minor claims and will restrict access to proper representation for other claims.
