I'm with you with that one, Anon, and would just add bring back scale fees for conveyancing, mortgages and probate. Plus, make costs a separate head of damages for the judge to decide on together with all the others and allow him to reflect how the litigation has been conducted in the order he makes.

And, of course, repeal s.39 SA 1974 (compulsory PII cover). If all you risk is, say, your £3,000 excess you have very little 'skin in the game' (whatever that means). Plus clients think you as as solicitor you must be worth suing as you are insured (well your colleagues do, which is what matters)..
