The rationale for raising court fees so far has been that parties need to pay the cost of their disputes so that taxpayers don't have to. This change shows that to have been a lie; it amounts to legalised theft.The Civil Procedure Rules Committee should hang its collective head in shame for having agreed to pass this rule, and I don't see how any lawyer who cares about the rule of law or about their clients can support this government.
