As a former family law solicitor, now full time family mediator, it astonishes me that the family court system has developed neither methodology for screening to identify issues of domestic abuse and/or coercive and controlling conduct nor options to protect the vulnerable. Within the family mediation profession, many of us have developed quite sophisticated tools for screening [and not only for abuse], and have devised ways to enable vulnerable participants to enjoy the benefits of family mediation without placing themselves at risk of bullying or of other harm.
