This is very sad news. Whatever the background to Catherine's decision, we need to be grateful for her efforts and build on them. Staff at the Law Society work really hard and deserve our support. It will always be a huge challenge to manage a membership body. There is certainly a real desire for change, and I am sure that Catherine has heard this from many quarters. The Law Society does much good work, much of it out of the view of its own members, let alone the public.
