Nobody doubts the fine work undertaken by the various technical committees, but it is the massive Council , presumably responsible for taking strategic decisions in conjunction with the relevant Board(s)/committees, which is cumbersome and has not been fit for purpose many years.

Solicitors can only look at the evidence, including a line of terrible decisions going back to the Legal Services Act, and for many the Law Society is a pale shadow of the body once respected by the government and others.

The time for radical action has come.

The suggestion of a hybrid working party was a practical one, since Council members would thn be exposed to the vigour of different views.

The status quo is unsustainable and if the Law Society continues with current structures and policies, this once respected body is doomed.
