More confused and illogical policy: what do we have to do to get evidence based politics?

What amazes me as a Conservative is why fellow Tories think it is the role of the Government to interfere in the way that they are and in so doing fail to understand how markets work?

If the SCT limit is raised to £5k this will mean the shift from the principle of the 'polluter pays' i.e. the tortfeasor in that costs follow the event to one where the costs are shifted to the insured "community" who will buy LEI to meet the costs of a claim which cannot be recovered and in so doing significantly reduce the 'moral hazard' of the tort.

Of course this will mean that those who cannot easily afford LEI will have access to justice restricted if not removed.

These reforms have no merit, will be ineffective in achieving their stated aims; viz. reducing premium costs and preventing fraud and will cause very real harm to the public, the profession and in the long term to the justice system and hence the rule of law.

It is a comic tragedy that we have a government which has been so lured by (at the highest) vacuous nonsense and greed and a futile and vestigial opposition.
