Does any Solicitor, Defendant or Claimant, truly believe that the majority of laypersons would have the requisite legal skills set to run a PI claim under 5k themselves? Before answering think of the plethora of activity and legal knowledge that is required to effectively run a PI to Trial.

The answer is of course no. Those laypersons who even get as far as successfully navigating stage 1 of the Portal will be eaten alive at Stage 2 and beyond.

So how could the government reconcile that problem? By making the PI system easier to navigate? But wait, this is all about fraud prevention isn't it so making the system easier ( remove the Portal/Med Co et al ) would surely risk seeing an increase in fraudulent claims.

The whole thing is a farce. You do not reduce fraud by removing Solicitors from the system.

Also it's not just cyclists/motorcyclists who are vulnerable here.

For instance what about:

1. The injured elderly who cannot operate a computer and/or do not have the capability to run a case themselves?
2. Injured disabled people who do not have the capability to run a PI case?
3. Injured people who do not speak or read English?
