Remarkably in the published quote Stephen Harvey QC has indirectly insulted all solicitors by effectively remarking that solicitors are costly and inefficient and this quote has been published in the Solicitor's Gazette. What will instructing solicitors think of this QC's comments?

Interestingly another google search shows a video on youtube where the same QC again lambasts solicitors as middlemen but proudly proclaims that he is direct access and customers wont be pushed from pillar to post around a solicitor's law firm.

Customers of legal services (including solicitors) should question why their counsel needs to turn to direct access for work in the first place. Why is a direct access barrister not busy with regular users of legal services such as solicitors, in particular good solicitors? The reality is that the majority of good counsel have too much work from good solicitors.

The danger for direct access customers is that they may end up with the worst of the bar (plus some para-lawyers it now seems).
