Seeking commodification of services for the benefit of large corporations to enter the legal market and pile it high and sell it cheap. This demonstrates a disconnect between ideology of regulators and reality of the nature of services provided (except the most straightforward services where fixed costs are already offered)

A better solution would be for all solicitors to offer a 1 hour consultation and for clients to consult 3 solicitors prior to electing which firm to instruct. Without this any headline prices quoted are meaningless given the multitude of variables involved in the provision of legal services.

There are already significant duties on solicitors to provide costs estimates and implications for solicitors where insufficient cost information is provided.
