"I presume you don't accept that women get paid less for doing the same job just as well (or better)?"

There are 20 lawyers in our company, now that you have made me look at it. 13 of them are women and 7 men. They get paid according to how good they are as lawyers and we don't creep around attempting to do anyone down on their wages.

The Equal Pay Act was passed in 1970 and anyone who has wanted to bring a case could have done so . The legislation is there, but economic bargaining strength is never equal, and is different for every employer.

Do I accept that some employers and some industries behave badly as far as paying women are concerned, yes I do. Do I accept the proposition for the legal profession, not really.

As to women doing a better job than men, the standard distribution of those who are dependable and those who are muppets, is in my experience, unaffected by gender.
