This looks like another example of the stupidities we face as a result of Brexit. There has been a lot of EU progress on IPR matters. Probably the best example is the EU trade mark where for little more than the price of a UK trade mark you can get one that covers 28 countries. Presumably the UK will have to leave this and now businesses dealing in the UK and elsewhere in the EU will have to make two applications at additional cost. And what will happen to those who already have an EU mark covering the UK. It's just another thing that 17.4 million weren't told about and almost certainly didn't think about.
