It strikes me that this really was harsh. Yes he wasn't truthful when trying to the firm's bills paid ( for work done) but after that he did everything 'right' re owning up and cooperating. There was no loss to the agency in the end. The public's confidence in the profession could have been restored by a hefty fine and a costs order ( lets face it the SRA are very good at those), a suspension and even a restriction on his certificate if they really wanted to go the extra mile. But to strike him off does not on the facts seem an proportionate way if dealing with a member who made an error of judgment as he did. And I agree with Simon Bath, there is absolutely no discernible consistency with the SDT. I'm glad I'm on my way out of the profession.
