The Government apparently saved millions in the Legal Aid reforms. Now it is clear that the most vulnerable in society are suffering real hardship in areas such as housing, DV and welfare benefits among others. As predicted by legal aid practitioners at the time - the 'fat cats' marching behind an army of women and children (Yes, Mr Clarke, that is not forgotten).

I'm sure in a few years once the PI reforms are introduced that there will be the same response when it becomes clear that the courts are full of LiP's, claimants are being ripped off by CMC's and insurers are sitting on a huge pile of cash.

But by then its too late. All the practitioners will have moved on.

If I was a conspiracy theorist, I would say that this is all entirely intentional. What government likes being challenged after all? Its surely much easier to deal with those who are prepared to give something to get something in return.
