Joshua Rosenberg speaks this week on the implications for UK justice of the digitisation of court processes. There is a rush by government to "virtual justice", but this "journey" creates fundamental tensions with core requirements for access to justice , openness and cross examination of witnesses.

Similarly a government which tried to sell off the Land Registry, now seeks to digitise the multi billion pound home buying market post Mishcon, impervious to the complexities and realities of real conveyancing.

There are significant implications for conveyancers, which must trouble real conveyancing professionals. Would anybody for instance execute a virtual lease on behalf of an elderly client? Will there be challenges post completion to a solicitors actions by disgruntled clients.

What about sub-sales the virtual mind just boggles!

I am fearful of where this is all going and passive acceptance of this digital journey will NOT do.
