Some might think that it's a fine line between pro bono and blackleg. The truth is that the more pro bono work is done, the less pressure there is to sort out the problems in the system. More and more judgments include paragraphs in which the judge pays tribute to the pro bono efforts of the lawyers involved. This is a bad thing, not a good thing.

As Bourns says, solicitors have been doing pro bono work for years. Most of them don't feel the need to make a song and dance about it.
