I thought the whole point of insurance was to create a mutual sharing of risk so that if someone suffered a loss as a result of an activity, then all those who participated in that activity would chip in.
It is not about refusing to compensate those third parties who have suffered loss. What will come next? They have already reduced some lawyers costs to vanishing point. Perhaps they should consider refusing to pay the full cost of repairing damaged vehicles?
I for one have not objection to paying a premium that is used to properly compensate those who suffer genuine loss as a result of motor accidents.
I do not remember the Insurers getting up in arms when charging the cost of NHS emergency treatment was thrown at them all those years ago, nor when IPT was introduced or increase. It seems the insurers do not mind paying the government.
The recent antics of the motor insurers, and their current howls of anguish, leaves me in some doubt as to whether they can be trusted to operate the system.
