It is not quite clear what is meant by the increase in the number of claims exceeding reported incidents: dues that mean that there is little or no increase in reported incidents, but an increase in claims (the claim itself, of course, possibly being a report in some instances). Meaningless: it may mean that more claims are being pursued (possibly at the instance of CMCs trawling, but what exactly is wrong with that); it may mean that reporting procedures are poor, but what it does not necessarily mean is that there are fraudulent claims: if there are they should be dealt with as such and not by some sort of innuendo.
It is welcome that the SRA are taking the initiative in checking on abuse of referral fees - some might consider it a somewhat overdue attention.
Anon at 10:34 - we don't need a type of "name and shame" kangaroo court, but proper investigation and sanction on those abusing the system (if there are any).
