I wish the SRA would concentrate on promoting excellence within the profession, rather than striving for 'diversity'.

There are many more solicitors qualifying each year now, compared with when I qualified over 30 years ago, and not enough jobs to go round. Surely, the thing to do is to make it harder, not easier, to qualify. This would limit numbers, raise overall standards and, perhaps, help to restore public trust in and respect for the profession.
